About the Role
A dynamic opportunity is available for a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong field experience to join a multidisciplinary engineering team working on high-profile building projects across New York City. This role combines technical design with on-site coordination, offering a hands-on approach to ensuring mechanical systems are executed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical design for HVAC systems from concept through construction. Conduct regular site visits to monitor installation progress, troubleshoot field issues, and ensure alignment with design intent. Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to coordinate MEP systems. Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings with a focus on constructability and compliance. Prepare detailed field reports and documentation of site conditions and engineering observations. Support project management tasks including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning. Ensure all mechanical systems meet NYC building codes, safety standards, and client requirements. Participate in commissioning and closeout activities to verify system performance and quality. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical design and field coordination for building projects. Proven experience conducting site inspections and resolving field issues. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and project management tools Strong understanding of NYC building codes and permitting processes. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and engineering consulting firms. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $100k - $130k Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance. 401K plan with company match.
