Compensation:

$89,000 - $99,000 base salary


The Client:

Our client is a leading metal-working manufacturing plant specializing in high-precision steel forgings and advanced heat-treatment technologies. As part of a strategic initiative to strengthen their Heat Treat Department, this position has opened to support ongoing capital projects and continuous quality improvements.


Description:

In this role, you will oversee all metallurgical laboratory and metrology gauge-room activities, ensuring that every product meets rigorous corporate standards for chemical composition, microstructure, and mechanical performance. Youll lead a team of laboratory technicians and quality inspectors, develop and document technical procedures, and analyze failure modes to drive corrective and preventive actions. Your insights will guide process control plans for thermal treatment, support quarterly steel audits, and shape capital improvement projects that enhance productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency. This position offers a clear path for professional growth as you introduce new heat-treat technologies and mentor the next generation of metallurgical specialists.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum four years of metallurgical engineering experience in metal-working heat treatment.
  • At least one year supervising laboratory or technical staff in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of problem-solving within high-volume production operations.
  • Strong proficiency with data analysis tools and metallurgical software applications.
  • Expertise in non-destructive testing methods including UT, XRF, MPI, and Thermo-electric testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process control plans for thermal treatments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and team training.


PREFERRED:

  • Five-plus years in metallurgical engineering with progressive heat-treat leadership.
  • Three-plus years managing capital improvement or continuous-improvement projects.
  • ASQ Quality Engineer or Quality Manager certification.
