We are seeking a talented and motivated Modern IBMi RPG Engineer II to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a critical part in building and maintaining IBM system tooling, while leveraging modern technologies-including AI -to enhance our system management capabilities. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business needs.
We're open to candidates who may come from a Java or Python background and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and work with RPG . The team values adaptability and a growth mindset, and we are flexible in helping strong engineers grow into the RPG space.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain IBMi system management tools and automation workflows. Utilize GitHub Copilot for ideation, solution planning, and execution using AI-enhanced templates. Develop and maintain tools using RPG , JavaScript , TypeScript , Node.js , and Python . Implement and manage monitoring/alerting solutions with New Relic , PagerDuty , and Splunk . Use Aldon for software change management and version control. Write and debug code using Visual Studio Code (VS Code) . Participate in code reviews and align with company best practices. Troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues effectively. Stay informed of industry trends and continuously seek improvements to tooling and automation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field
Preferred Skills
Proficiency in RPG programming Experience using GitHub Copilot or other AI tools in development Strong knowledge of JavaScript , TypeScript , Node.js , and Python Familiarity with tools like New Relic , PagerDuty , Splunk Experience with Aldon and GitHub for version control Skilled in using VS Code for development and debugging Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
USD 79,400.00 - 119,000.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $79,400.00 - $119,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
