How many days in office/remote each week?: 3 days a week on site in Rolling Meadows, IL.
• The successful candidate will join the Network team with responsibilities to engineer and deploy the network fabric configuration to support Telecommunication's strategic 5G direction. The candidate will assume engineering responsibilities for the networks to successfully engineer and automate the network configurations in Service Aggregation Point (SAP) locations throughout the Network markets. The candidate must demonstrate problem solving and attention to detail in order to achieve our strategic project goals. The candidate will work to create an environment of teamwork and cooperation with all stakeholders including; territories, edge, and design.
• The successful candidate will demonstrate strengths in the following areas:
• Responsible for engineering IP edge networks at Service Aggregation Points (SAP) and Transport Aggregation Points (TAP) to support the networking configuration needed to build and migrate 5G services.
• Engineer the IP (L2/L3) and routing of the spine / leaf network configuration through the use of automated systems and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for configuration deployment.
• Attention to detail, especially in the area of managing site specific information for the eNSE (spine/leaf fabric) devices such as IP addresses, device names, policy names, neighbor peering information, BGP communities, etc.
• Review the MOPs/automation templates with peers and correct as necessary.
• Read and understand new and changing design models and templates to support new application versions, migrations and deployments.
• Provide feedback to automation teams on how to update workflows.
• Engineering network solutions with a strong interaction between application teams, design and the network management center.
• Working with underlay and overlay controllers for network creation, network modeling, and network deployments.
• Overseeing network builds from procurement to "In Service".
• Work with peer teams to ensure new networks are built and migrated to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Must have a strong ability to understand end to end call flows for deploying network services.
• Managing network engineering projects to deliver on time.
• Project oversight and ownership.
• Hands-on experience configuring routers, switches and related network equipment. Preferably: Cisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS), Cisco Network Convergence System (Company), ASR 9K, ISR 3945, Nexus 3K, 7K, 9K. Nokia SR routers. Operating Systems: IOS, XR-IOS, NX-OS, Nokia SR-OS.
MUST HAVE SKILLS (Most Important):
Cisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS), Cisco Network Convergence System (Company), ASR 9K, ISR 3945, Nexus 3K, 7K, 9K. Nokia SR routers. Operating Systems: IOS, XR-IOS, NX-OS, Nokia SR-OS.
• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience
• Experience with IP Layer 1-3 (IPv4/IPv6) for Edge Networks and strong knowledge of VXLAN and/or fabric networking.
• Hands on experience with deploying network configurations for virtualized services.
• Experience building MOPs and or leveraging automated configuration tools to deploy network configurations
• Must have a proven track record of managing large, complex and detailed network configurations.
• Hands on experience with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and OSPF or IS-IS
• Cisco (CCNP/CCIE ) or Nokia networking certifications.
Knowledge of spine and leaf fabric networking
• Must have in depth knowledge and expert comprehension of Command Line Interface (CLI) commands for Nokia 7750/7706/7250, Cisco 55A1,5504, 5508, 9508, CRS-16, Nexus 3k/5k/7K/9K (IOS, XE, XR, NX-OS)
• They must possess the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, stay organized/prioritize their workload, and make updates to tickets/spreadsheets, deployment schedules.
• Need to be comfortable working on the phone and troubleshooting with local support personnel to remedy L1 and other issues.
• They must have the ability to follow and implement detailed engineering design documents and join team/project calls throughout the day in various US time zones and have the ability to convey status and work updates.
• Administrative skills to track and update emails, tickets, projects, and work logs.

• Understanding of networking-specific technologies: IPV6, L2VPN, L3VPN, eVPN, mp-BGP, QOS/Traffic Engineering, MPLS
• LOGISTICS:
40 hour work week can include a mix of daytime and overnight maintenance windows, depending on the needs of the business. The candidate MUST be able to work overnight maintenance windows. No overtime.
