Network Engineer

Our client is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join their team in a hybrid role, requiring 2 days onsite at their South New Jersey office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting both routine and complex network infrastructure issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 3+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering.
Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, the OSI model, routing, switching, subnetting, and VLANs.
Experience with key protocols and services including DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, VPN, VLAN, BGP, OSPF.
Proficient with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
Hands-on experience with routers, switches, and firewalls, particularly Aruba, Cisco, or Juniper equipment.
Ability to independently troubleshoot routine and recurring network issues.
Familiarity with cloud networking, SD-WAN, and other modern networking technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Configure and support core network technologies such as VLANs, OSPF, BGP, SD-WAN, and VPNs.
Administer firewalls and security rules on platforms such as Fortinet and Palo Alto.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, IP address records, and change logs.
Monitor and evaluate network performance and capacity.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (every 4–5 weeks).
Mentor and support junior network engineers.
Proactively identify and resolve all but the most complex network issues, ensuring high availability and adherence to SLAs.
Conduct thorough root cause analysis of network incidents.
Collaborate with team members on troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Manage a wide range of support tickets, including routine, moderately complex, and some advanced issues.
