Job Description
As an NPI Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming innovative robot designs into tangible, buildable products. Your responsibilities will bridge the gap between the design team and the factory floor, ensuring that groundbreaking ideas can be produced reliably at scale. Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineers to ensure the manufacturability and reliability of robot parts. Set up and optimize assembly and testing processes for new robot components. Address and resolve issues during initial production runs. Engage in design reviews with the design team. Work extensively with Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs). Coordinate with vendors for PCBA manufacturing and testing. Define clear requirements for tests and board builds. Focus on mechanical aspects of building and transferring charge dock components to the manufacturing test team. Conduct assembly tasks and ensure ESD protection during board handling. Establish work cells for handling and installing electrical components. Possess box build experience related to the work involved. Provide hands-on training for technicians. Create detailed work instructions and document them with photographs. Utilize Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), specifically VKS, for work instructions and managing non-conformances. Essential Skills
Deep experience with electromechanical systems, PCBA, sensors, actuators, and mechanical integration. Proficiency in CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and injection molding. Ability to transition prototypes to mass production, including instruction creation and testing processes. Expertise in cross-functional collaboration and problem-solving with teams such as design, test, supply chain, and vendors. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Assembly (DFA), and Test (DFT) skills. Ability to create and maintain manufacturing documentation including BOMs and ECOs. Experience leading pilot builds and setting up assembly lines. Competence in data analysis to improve yields and reduce costs using SPC, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies. Capability to collaborate with EMS and suppliers to ensure quality and readiness. Support for reliability and environmental testing, including thermal cycling and HALT. Work Environment
