Are you an experienced Controls Engineer looking for a flexible, impactful role? We're seeking a skilled professional to join our team in Canton, MI, on an on-call, contract basis . This role is perfect for someone who thrives on troubleshooting and optimizing automation systems, with an estimated commitment of 20 hours per month at a rate of $60 per hour .
What You'll Do:
As our On-Call Controls Engineer, you'll be a critical resource, providing technical expertise and support for our production plant. Your responsibilities will include:
Software & Systems Expertise: Writing, modifying, debugging, and documenting software logic programs for automated machinery and control systems. You'll ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components within our automation infrastructure.
Troubleshooting & Support: Debugging and resolving technical issues related to automation systems, and supporting the technical process activities of the plant.
Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to enhance our processes and automation, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
Inventory & Tooling: Supporting spare parts inventory management and taking responsibility for tooling management related to automation.
Training & Collaboration: Training maintenance and other staff on how to troubleshoot and repair automation systems. You'll also work closely with suppliers and purchasing to procure necessary test equipment, tooling, and supplies.
Miscellaneous Engineering: Engaging in other mechanical or electrical engineering activities as needed.
Compliance: Supporting the management team in demonstrating QMS/EMS awareness and ensuring compliance with all safety policies and requirements.
What We'll Need From You:
We're looking for a hands-on expert with a proven track record in industrial automation.
Technical Acumen:
Specific experience with Allen Bradley series 500 equipment.
Proficiency with Rexroth Indramat drives, AB Panel View HMI, and AB IMC110 motion control modules.
3+ years of experience in programming and optimizing PLC-controlled automation.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Communication: Excellent organizational and communication skills are a must.
Preferred: Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001 and/or other management systems.
