Role Overview:
This hybrid role seeks an experienced Oracle ASM Automation Engineer with a strong background in Oracle database administration, specifically focusing on automating Oracle ASM tasks.
The position involves streamlining the deployment, configuration, and operation of Oracle ASM environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Automate tasks such as provisioning and patching, and develop automation scripts in languages like Shell, Python, or Perl, utilizing Ansible.
Collaborate with teams such as DevOps and Cloud Engineering, integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
Document processes and contribute to disaster recovery planning.
Oracle ASM Administration:
Manage Oracle databases and their storage using Automatic Storage Management (ASM), including administration, monitoring, maintenance, migration, and disk group operations. - Implement high availability solutions with Oracle Data Guard.
Automation Development and Implementation:
Design and develop automated solutions for various Oracle tasks, including ASM automation through scripting languages.
Automate quarterly Oracle patching and implement IaC using tools like Terraform or Puppet.
Integrate test automation using tools such as Jenkins or Git.
Performance Tuning and Optimization:
Participate in performance tuning, database optimization, and capacity planning.
Troubleshoot incidents and enhance performance using tools like AWR and ADDM.
Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with other teams, provide support, and mentor junior DBAs.
Document incidents, maintain comprehensive documentation, contribute to disaster recovery planning, and ensure adherence to security and compliance standards.
Cloud:
Demonstrated hands-on experience with AWS administration , including in-depth knowledge of services such as EC2, EBS, RDS, Database Insight, Fleet Health, and CloudWatch.
Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor' s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is typically required.
Oracle certifications may also be preferred or required.
Must be capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Nice to have experience in an agile Scrum environment.
Familiarity with streaming technologies, such as AWS Kinesis or Apache Kafka.
Knowledge of Oracle Goldengate.
