Our client is seeking a . This position will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing packaging solutions that ensure the safe, cost-effective, and sustainable transport of our products. You will also be responsible for providing engineering support for all packaging ideas. The successful candidate will deploy problem solving skills to resolve packaging issues, reduce variability, and increase efficiency in all areas of packaging and shipping. This position will work closely with the Operations Leadership Team to execute the packaging/process strategy, including equipment selection and operator training, for their assigned areas. Primary responsibilities will focus on development of cost-effective packaging designs as well as driving continuous improvements. This will be done by utilizing Kaizen and lean manufacturing techniques to ensure key safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals are met.
Design and develop packaging for new and existing products, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and sustainability standards.
Conduct packaging testing and validation to ensure durability and protection during shipping and handling.
Managing packaging projects, including planning, scheduling, and budget management
Collaborate with suppliers to source materials and evaluate packaging technologies.
Analyze packaging costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
Create and maintain packaging documentation, including specifications, drawings, and instructions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives in packaging processes and materials.
Identifying and implementing new packaging technologies and materials to improve efficiency and sustainability.
Ensure packaging aligns with branding and customer experience goals.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field
5+ years of experience in a factory setting directly supporting manufacturing.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques in relation to packaging and shipping operations.
Proficiency in CAD software and packaging simulation tools.
Strong understanding of packaging materials, testing standards, and supply chain logistics.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Should have a proven track record of experience in data analysis and problem solving to include the use of run charts, Pareto analysis, PFMEA, 5 Whys, 8D, and other problem-solving techniques.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Hands-on experience of utilizing data and proven problem-solving techniques to implement and sustain solutions that realize tangible improvements in safety, quality, and costs.
