Impact
As a Principal Software Engineer on the Developer Operations team, your primary role will be to architect, influence, and build strategic infrastructure and delivery systems and tools. You will be a technical leader within the Developer and Ops Enablement engineering organization and partner closely with engineering and product leads across multiple teams. Your work will consist of a balance between technical guidance, architectural design, and implementation to deliver high quality software solutions in a rapidly evolving e‑commerce environment.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with progressive responsibilities and operating applications at scale
- Working expertise in building, debugging, deploying, and scaling applications built on various technology stacks
- 3+ years of experience with modern cloud platform providers, including but not limited to AWS, GCP, and Azure
- Working expertise with containerization – Kubernetes, Docker
- Working expertise with observability tools and technologies, such as time series databases, log aggregation, metric visualization, distributed tracing, APM
Pay Range: $140,000- $217,000
Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.

Work Arrangement
Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In‑office expectations will vary by role and leader. Certain roles may require in‑office presence on a full‑time basis.
