We are seeking a skilled and experienced Principal Systems Engineer (Engineer, Systems IV-ESY4) to join our team!
Responsibilities: • Serve as the lead systems engineer for projects involving advanced naval combat systems, including but not limited to Combat Systems Cybersecurity, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class, AEGIS Integrated Combat Systems, DDG-1000 Zumwalt class, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), and integrated weapon/sensor systems. • Coordinate and lead the development of engineering activities across multiple system capabilities and technical domains, ensuring technical integrity, schedule alignment, and stakeholder engagement throughout the engineering lifecycle. • Conduct independent, detailed systems engineering analyses, including functional decomposition, system-level requirements generation, interface definition, and design verification. • Perform and oversee requirements analysis and traceability to ensure system capabilities meet mission needs and stakeholder expectations, and support technical community review boards to validate engineering products. • Develop and manage Functional Area Assessments (FAA) and contribute to Mission Area Assessments (MAA) in support of capability development, strategic planning, and systems-of-systems integration. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including program management, cybersecurity, software, hardware, test and evaluation, and logistics to deliver technically sound and mission-ready solutions. • Provide subject matter expertise and mentorship to junior engineers and analysts, promoting knowledge transfer and engineering best practices. • Ensure systems engineering deliverables comply with DoD standards, Navy requirements, and applicable acquisition and cybersecurity frameworks. • Participate in engineering reviews, milestone planning, and risk management processes, contributing to successful execution of assigned programs.
Qualifications: • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of a demonstrated and established knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to specific technical disciplines of the SOW. In addition, fifteen (15) years of experience with emphasis in one or more of the following: Combat Systems Cyber Security, Ships Self Defense System, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class, AEGIS Integrated Combat Systems, DDG-1000 Zumwalt class destroyer, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense and Weapon/Sensor Combat Systems to conduct and coordinate individual projects.
The Principal Systems Engineer experience includes: • Coordinating development activities associated with engineering systems, capabilities, and activities as well as conducting detailed and complex system engineering independently to include demonstrated experience in functional and system level requirements analysis, requirements generation and technical community review. • Extensive experience in developing Functional Area Assessments (FAA) and working with Mission Area Assessments (MAA) in relation to engineering tasks. • Top Secret Clearance required.
