We currently seek a Process Engineer to join our division located in Avon, CT, and help support our continued business growth.
As part of the Avon Fiber Sensor Engineering department, this position is responsible for the design, development, improvement, and optimization of manufacturing processes for sensing inscription. This includes developing new processes, improving existing processes, and troubleshooting process problems.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Designing, developing, and improving new and existing sensing inscription processes to increase their technical readiness level.
Improving and transforming existing sensing inscription production system to improve its throughput, cost, yield, and productivity. Necessary actions include:
Map process flow and communication flow, and quality control flow
Conduct experiments and collect data to evaluate process performance
Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
Develop and implement process improvement plans/roadmap
Document and maintain process documentation
Propose and lead Lean events
Train production staff on new processes
Propose and implement automation and digital transformation projects
Create and maintain DFMEA and PFMEA
Responsible for ensuring manufacturing process’s integrity and performance to meet production goals. Troubleshoot process problems
Participate in sensing research and product development projects and activities
Technical support to customers and internal customers including quality, supply chain,
Collaborate with technical teams from OFS labs and other sister locations
Stay up-to-date on new technologies and techniques in process development
Work with other engineers, scientists, and technicians to ensure that processes are safe, efficient, and compliant with all applicable regulations
Key qualifications include:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Optical. Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in process development in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge in fiber optics, FBGs and fiber optic sensing
Passionate, motivated, and always willing to go the extra mile to deliver excellent customer service
Strong mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach to solving issues as they arise
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with CAD software and other engineering tools
