RESPONSIBILITIES
: Maintain product quality and reliability to ensure mechanical integrity and perform failure analysis on defects from customer applications and certain manufacturing processes. Integrate new technologies, innovative manufacturing methods, and critical cost initiatives into aspects of process/product designs supporting new product releases. Manage product related documentation and specifications at the component level, the manufacturing processes, and field application performance by maintaining all aspects of the product design integrity. Serve as the customer focal point in support of technical product information, in-field applications and general guidance related to product performance. Work closely with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of product prototypes thru pilot production, as well as interfacing with beta-site customers. Be responsible for the successful transition of products and processes from NPI phase to volume manufacturing into low-cost regions and regular interfacing with NPI and manufacturing engineering groups at the connector manufacturing facilities globally. Provide technical assistance to drafters, designers, engineers and other support personnel in order to help them perform their duties and functions. Support the product design effort in a mechanical capacity by developing / participating in tolerance analysis work, FEA, material evaluation efforts and failure analysis activities. Take part in efforts leading to new / alternate material identification and benchmarking as well as participating in development of new innovative manufacturing techniques supporting product lines. Actively participate / integrate with product designers in support of design reviews, component and product testing and qualification, and introduction of new products including product derivatives supporting market demands. Participate in quality investigations in order to assure product specifications. Participate in fixture design and in creating and managing test plans supporting the NPI process. Identify and facilitate a variety of project initiatives such as cost improvement, overall quality initiatives, and product performance benchmarking. QUALIFICATIONS: BS/MS Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, Materials Science degree Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with solid modeling tools (Pro/E), FEA tools a plus Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical people Ability to work in dynamic team environment. Desire to create and design new products and processes Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics would be a plus Basic understanding of electrical connectors Amphenol Corporation is proud of our reputation as an excellent employer.
