Project Manager, Packaging Engineer

The Packaging Engineer designs product packaging to ensure product integrity and appeal under varying shipping and display conditions. The PE tests, analyzes, and selects materials for packaging based on durability and cost effectiveness. They also review and improve existing packaging designs. They ensure packaging complies with all regulations. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.

* Manage product launches from pipeline to first production run. * Help determine project scope, timelines and resources necessary to complete products on time and on budget. * Collect and compile product specifications based on requirements. * Providing regular status reports to cross-functional team members Turnkey opportunities may require design and development of secondary and tertiary packaging components. * Must have the ability to identify packaging issues and propose solutions. * Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special-handling and safety requirements, and type of materials required for packaging. * Responsible for carrying out any additional duties as requested by direct supervisor. * Manage and adjust timelines according to raw material and component ETA’s. * Work with Quality by providing artwork for label reviews and various information to produce Validation Protocols. * Receive purchase orders from account managers and submit sale orders. * Create bills of materials and creating routers * Submit maintenance test for components to ensure compatibility with equipment. * Work with a processing team to determine batch sizes. * Manage all communication between customer and R&D during the formulation process. * Updating Monday.com daily as it relates to updates for your projects. * Updating Project Management Folders Develop and implement product tracking documentation. * Directs, coordinates and report results for all pilot production runs, stability testing and/or any other required testing.
*Work experience/EDUCATION requirements *
* Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Windows XP, Power Point, Outlook, CAPE or TOPPS, Adobe Illustrator as well as understand a working an ERP manufacturing database. * Knowledge and understanding of packaging design validation standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.), drafting and specification standards is essential. * Should have experience in rapid prototyping. Must be able to demonstrate project management skills and experience; project management certification a plus. * 2+ years in packaging development or consumer packaging or related field * BS in Packaging Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred * Demonstrable proficiency in CAD software is needed. * Understanding of process improvement, quality improvement concepts is needed.
