Position Title: Propulsion Engineer Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly experienced Propulsion Engineer to join their esteemed engineering division. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects within the aerospace sector, working alongside a team of dedicated professionals committed to innovation and excellence. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing engineering leadership and ensuring the technical integrity of our client's projects.
Key Responsibilities: Provide expert engineering leadership and comprehensive technical oversight for projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and industry standards. Ensure that all hardware components meet or exceed contract specifications, maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance. Lead and manage the identification and mitigation of risks, as well as the exploration of opportunities within supplier management, to optimize project outcomes. Engage in frequent travel to various sites, including but not limited to Buffalo, New York, and other client locations, to oversee project progress and facilitate collaboration. Support manufacturing processes and expeditor services to guarantee the timely delivery of high-quality hardware components. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to drive innovation and ensure project success.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to work independently while also contributing assertively within team environments. Proven experience in leading technical teams and managing complex supplier relationships. Strong expertise in cost account management, with a track record of successful financial oversight. A minimum of 20 years of experience in technical leadership or supplier management roles, with a focus on aerospace or related industries. Proficiency in managing risks and identifying opportunities to enhance project outcomes. A degree in engineering, with substantial experience in space or launch vehicle systems. Requires onsite presence and involves up to 75% travel to various locations.
Educational and Professional Experience: A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a Master's degree with at least 18 years of experience, or a PhD with a minimum of 15 years of experience.
