Quality & Design Engineer – Overview
This role is ideal for a mechanically focused engineer (Mechanical preferred; Electrical with strong mechanical aptitude also considered) who excels in addressing design and quality challenges within a custom CNC manufacturing environment. Relocation available; preference for local candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, update, and troubleshoot parts and assembly drawings to improve manufacturability.
Solve production issues by addressing outdated or unclear drawings and resolving legacy design challenges.
Provide hands-on assistance during CNC setups and inspections, including light programming and CAM use (e.g., BobCAD).
Collaborate with fabrication and electrical teams to ensure design integrity throughout the production process.
Investigate and address design-related quality concerns, focusing on root causes rather than compliance reporting.
Proactively identify and resolve design bottlenecks to enhance production efficiency.
Qualifications
7–10+ years of experience in mechanical design or manufacturing engineering.
Proficient in CAD and capable of creating or refining drawings for optimal manufacturability.
Familiarity with CNC machinery and basic programming skills (experience with BobCAD is a plus).
Practical problem-solver with experience working alongside shop floor teams.
Background in small-batch or high-variation manufacturing environments preferred.
Knowledge of electrical systems or mech-electro assemblies is an advantage.
Ability to balance immediate production support with long-term design improvement initiatives.
