Responsibilities As an R&D Software/Firmware Engineer at Keysight, you'll be part of a collaborative environment located primarily in Santa Rosa, CA. Our team, housed within Keysight Advanced Technology Laboratories, is dedicated to shaping the future of technology. By joining us, you'll play a pivotal role as part of a team creating, validating, and implementing next-generation solutions including microwave/mm-wave solutions, frequency synthesis, high-performance digital baseband and ASIC validation to set Keysight products apart from the competition.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborative Software Development:
Work closely with team members to design, develop, and implement software that controls hardware systems while performing critical validation testing.
Hardware Interfacing:
Interface with FPGAs or microcontrollers via PCIe, USB, or alternative methods by executing register-level control sequences. Manage peripheral devices such as ADCs, DACs, and power controllers, employing various hardware control interfaces (e.g., SPI, I2C).
Algorithm & Control Structure Design:
Design and develop control structures and algorithms for advanced subsystems that drive cutting-edge microwave, analog, and digital electronic circuits and modules.
Testing and Calibration Suites:
Create and maintain comprehensive hardware testing and validation suites while developing algorithms to align and calibrate equipment effectively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with internal stakeholders to advance software design and development practices-from initial concept through to final shipping of products.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or (or applicable engineering degree/experience)
A minimum of 6 years relevant job experience or education beyond bachelor's degree
Experience in programming using C++/C#/Python
Experience writing software for control of hardware at the register level or willingness to learn
Experience in scientific and mathematical programming algorithms
Some experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
Ability to gather requirements from scientists, electrical engineers and do technical documentation
Good understanding of software development practices and software architecture
Self-motivated, quick-learner and excellent analytical skills
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
Must be flexible, adaptable, and eager to push technical boundaries
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Skills
Experience with electronic test and measurement equipment and software is a plus
Experience in Linux and/or RTOS is a plus
Analog, RF, and/or microwave circuit knowledge is a plus

The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills; Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the Salary Range listed below.
California Pay range : MIN $124,000.00 - MAX $207,000.00
