Summary
CHS, Inc is hiring a Refinery Rotating Equipment Engineer at our Laurel, MT oil refinery. The Rotating Equipment Engineer (REE) will provide stewardship of rotating equipment and identify opportunities for reliability improvement within rotating equipment. The REE will provide technical support for repairs and refurbishment of rotating equipment and lead/assist in root cause failure analysis and troubleshooting equipment failures. The person in this position will be engaged in further development of refinery reliability and maintenance programs, procedures, standards, and processes to drive toward world class performance for rotating equipment reliability. The REE will integrate with rotating equipment crafts, rotating equipment planners, craft supervision, Rotating Equipment Engineers, and refinery management to facilitate efficient and comprehensive machine maintenance.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support for rotating equipment maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds within the refinery.Lead functional teams of craftsmen, contractors, and consultants to facilitate installation, repairs, and replacement of complex machines.Maintain asset records management for equipment revisions, spare parts changes.
Utilize technical knowledge and experience toAssist in or lead root cause failure analysis of machine failures.Review, update and establish new rotating equipment standards, practices and proceduresMake recommendations and provide design input rotating equipment selection, design and installation within the refinery.Assist with initial start-up and check out of major refinery equipment. Develop, justify, and facilitate strategies to solve complex problems associated with repairs to major rotating equipment. Utilize rotating equipment diagnostic tools and techniques and interpret inspection results to monitor equipment health
Understand, recommend, and apply industry best practices to improve processes associated with management of rotating equipment reliabilityDevelop and implement rotating equipment reliability performance metrics.Identify reliability bad actors and implement solutions to address the cause of repetitive failures.Provide detailed and accurate repair notes and descriptions of equipment repairs and properly document them in equipment files.Ensure work orders are properly entered and classified in the CMMS to track appropriate history and failure analysis.
Lead functional teams of craftsmen, contractors, and consultants to facilitate installation, repairs, and replacement of complex machines.
Oversee and monitor outside rotating equipment/machine shop quality and integrityComplete shop inspections/visits as necessary to qualify repair facilities for rotating equipment repairsMonitor repairs and witness performance testing at repair/manufacturer locations as necessary.Facilitate critical repairs by being on-premises at outside shops when necessary.
Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
4+ years of experience in oil refinery or directly related experience including basic knowledge of refinery rotating equipment
Additional Qualifications
Proficiency in MS Office products
Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Demonstrated organizational skills
Formal training in a Rotating Equipment or Risk Based Certification Program
Reliability Engineering Certification
Familiarity with project management skills
Familiarity with project scheduling tools
Knowledge of basic refinery unit operations
Supervision of rotating equipment crafts personnel or leadership experience
Ability to effectively communicate and influence.
Strong data gathering and analysis; problem solving skills
Ability to work in a team environment with varied team member backgrounds and personalities
