Job Summary We are looking for a competent Regional Chief Engineer to manage maintenance in our facilities. You will be responsible for hiring and training staff and ensuring the smooth running of upkeep or repair operations. An excellent maintenance supervisor must be reliable and have a great eye for detail. They must have technical skills and knowledge of various crafts such as carpentry, plumbing etc. Leadership and knowledge of administrative tasks such as scheduling are essential. The goal is to ensure that facilities are in a good and safe condition at all times.
Operational Oversight
Supervise engineering and maintenance operations across multiple hotels within the region.
Ensure all properties comply with local, state, and federal building codes, safety regulations, and brand standards.
Oversee preventative maintenance (PM) schedules for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems.
Monitor energy usage and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce utility costs.
Review work orders and ensure timely completion of maintenance requests.
Inspect properties regularly to assess the condition of facilities and equipment.
Team Leadership & Development
Manage and mentor on-site Engineering supervisors and maintenance teams at each property.
Conduct training on safety protocols, technical skills, and equipment operation.
Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations for engineering staff.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement among all engineering teams.
Capital Planning & Budgeting
Develop and manage regional engineering budgets, including labor, supplies, and capital expenses.
Work with property GMs and ownership to plan capital improvement projects (renovations, equipment replacements, etc.).
Review vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and oversee contracted maintenance services.
Approve and track major repair and replacement expenditures.
Project Management
Lead and coordinate major repair and renovation projects, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations.
Oversee contractors, architects, and consultants during construction or refurbishment projects.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with brand specifications.
Compliance & Safety
Maintain all safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, and emergency power systems, in operational condition.
Ensure OSHA compliance and maintain up-to-date safety documentation.
Conduct regular safety audits and drills across all hotels.
Lead response efforts for emergency situations affecting property infrastructure.
Reporting & Communication
Provide regular updates to Regional Director of Operations or ownership on property conditions and project status.
Analyze maintenance data and prepare reports on repair trends, asset lifecycles, and cost savings.
Act as a liaison between property-level engineering teams, general managers, and ownership groups.
Experience:
Minimum 7–10 years of engineering or maintenance management experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
Prior experience in the hospitality industry strongly preferred.
Proven track record in preventive maintenance, capital planning, and project management.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems.
Familiarity with building automation systems, energy management programs, and sustainability practices.
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, ADA compliance, and local/state building codes.
