Reliability Engineer

The Reliability Engineer works closely with plant management, plant engineers, maintenance, environmental, safety, operations and contractors. The position reports directly to the Sr. Maintenance Manager located in McArthur, Ohio.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Works with a small team (production, technical, maintenance) to prioritize, coordinate and execute efforts for all assets, exhibiting strong interpersonal skills.
  • Provides technical expertise to the maintenance organization for critical equipment repairs, PM and PdM best-practice implementation, and developing/updating maintenance procedures.
  • Performs reliability analyses on existing equipment to identify, prioritize, and implement improvements in equipment design and maintenance strategy to improve asset effectiveness.
  • Enables and assists in the training of operators, mechanics, and engineering to convey the "why" of the fundamentals.
  • Implements large programs and/or process improvements Management of Change
  • Leads troubleshooting and Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs) for complex issues.
  • Responsible to ensure adequate basic data is created for CapEx projects and provides resourcing support (critical spare part identification and setup, PM needs, procedure updates, etc.).
  • Supports key PSM elements as needed (Process Technology, Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change).
  • Develop and maintain the Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance (MIQA) program per OSHA 1910.119(j) standard.
  • Maintain the PSM equipment criticality assessment process.
  • Networks and leverages the broader organization.
  • Perform PM effectiveness assessments and assess the quality of the performed PM tasks.
  • Participate in continuing education courses, professional organizations and reliability conferences to stay current with new and emerging technologies.

Education and Experience

  • Technical Degree (BS, MS) in Engineering; Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical
  • Previous maintenance or reliability work experience preferred
  • Experience in explosive manufacture preferred

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Maintenance and reliability best practices including the work management process
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Rotating equipment and alignment techniques
  • Basic Materials Science including material selection and properties
  • Lubrication and fundamentals of interpreting oil analysis results
  • Vibration analysis and interpretation of vibration analysis reports
  • Fundamentals of nondestructive testing and inspection techniques

Work Environment

This position requires minimal travel. 80% of time will be spent in all areas of the plant, both indoors and outdoors, in all-weather elements.
