Stillwater Sciences seeks a highly motivated staff or project level engineer to serve as a member of our interdisciplinary team working on habitat restoration planning, design, and implementation, as well as water resources management projects, throughout California.
The Engineer will be responsible for:
Participation on interdisciplinary teams focused on water quality management in lake, wetland, riverine, and estuarine settings; watershed assessment; as well as habitat restoration planning.
Field data collection, analysis, and reporting of hydrologic, water quality, and aquatic habitat information.
Preparation of environmental assessment and compliance documentation.
Technical and analytical support in developing engineering designs for river and aquatic habitat restoration projects.
Topographic and bathymetric surveying.
Integrating mapping and analytical tasks in ArcGIS and AutoCAD.
Hydraulic modeling.
Designing tasks in AutoCAD Civil3D, including grading, creating and working with surfaces, and design drawing production.
Development of construction specifications and cost estimates.
Construction management for restoration and infrastructure projects.
Technical writing.
Ideal candidates will possess West Coast experience with:
Restoration planning, design, and implementation in riverine, wetland and estuarine environments.
Threatened and Endangered (T&E) species recovery, integrated multi-benefit restoration, stormwater engineering, trails and park design, fish passage, and/or dam removal.
Environmental policy and environmental compliance documentation, water chemistry, in-situ water quality instrumentation and sample collection, fish community sampling, hydrologic measurements, aquatic habitat assessment, instream flow studies, and macroinvertebrate community evaluation.
Qualified applicants should possess:
BS or MS in fields of Civil/Environmental Engineering.
2 or more years of relevant experience.
Total station, RTK GPS, and bathymetric survey equipment experience.
Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D including surfaces, grading, and plan layout.
General knowledge of ArcGIS and HEC RAS.
Experience with construction management and oversight.
Proficiency in Excel.
Demonstrated excellence with verbal and written communication.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively to organize resources, analyze data, and confidently interact with project team members.
Valid Drivers license in good standing.
Application and Compensation Details:
Full-time (40 hours/week) position in Los Angeles, CA.
Stillwater Sciences provides a competitive compensation package including a 401(k) plan, full health and dental care, and an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) after entry criteria are met.
Annual salary $76,000-$104,000,commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Out-of-town work (requiring overnight stays) may be required (field efforts, meetings, and conferences).
This is a hybrid role, typically working 3 days/week in office.
