POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Engineer provides technical expertise to investigate incidents, implement security controls, and enhance HSA's defensive capabilities. This role supports both reactive investigations from SOC escalations and proactive detection engineering and security improvements across Microsoft Windows, server, Azure, and on-premises environments, with consideration for healthcare compliance requirements.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct in-depth technical investigations of incidents escalated by the SOC and identified internally.
  • Develop and tune SIEM detection rules, alerts, and automation playbooks for Windows, server, and Azure environments.
  • Implement and configure security tools and controls to protect endpoints, networks, and cloud services.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend systemic security improvements.
  • Support vulnerability management efforts, validating findings and providing technical remediation guidance.
  • Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and IT teams to enhance security architecture and operational defenses.
  • Document engineering changes and investigation processes for audit and compliance.
  • Interpret and apply HIPAA security and privacy frameworks when designing and implementing security solutions.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience and job history in technical security roles.
  • 3-5 years of experience in security engineering, incident response, or security operations.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems, server environments, Azure cloud security, and hybrid architectures.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements and applying security controls within regulated environments.

CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • CISSP, GCIA, GCIH, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or similar.
