Blu Omega is seeking a Sr AI/ML Engineer to our Federal Health team based in Atlanta, GA.
Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Hands-On Development Focus
In this role, you'll define and drive the development of mission-critical machine learning solutions-not just by selecting the right algorithms, but by building and optimizing them yourself. This position requires a strong software engineering mindset, with a focus on production-quality code, scalable ML pipelines, and deployment-ready solutions.
You'll be part of a large community of ML engineers across the company and collaborate closely with data engineers, data scientists, solution architects, and product owners to deliver robust ML systems. You'll also help build an enterprise-scale MLOps framework and mentor others through example, contributing clean, tested, production-grade code every day.
Responsibilities: Write, test, and maintain production-quality code in Python (or other languages) to develop, deploy, and optimize machine learning models Design and implement robust ML workflows-including generative AI, agent-based architectures, and RAG pipelines. Build scalable, automated training and inference pipelines using cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, Databricks) Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and DevOps to integrate ML solutions into real-time and batch production systems. Conduct code reviews, refactor legacy codebases, and enforce best practices in ML model lifecycle management. Lead experiments and A/B testing initiatives to validate model performance and business impact Stay current with new AI research and help translate novel ideas into working prototypes and products. Document architectural decisions and development patterns to support reproducibility and knowledge sharing. Mentor junior engineers and participate in coding bootcamps or pair programming sessions. Qualifications: 5-10+ years of professional software development experience building production-grade ML systems. Expert-level coding skills in Python, with strong knowledge of testing, packaging, logging, and CI/CD practices. Deep experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn. Demonstrated experience deploying ML models into production environments using cloud-native tools (e.g., SageMaker, Azure ML, MLflow, Airflow). Proficient in building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines in distributed computing environments. Proven ability to implement MLOps practices (versioning, monitoring, retraining) to support scalable ML. Experience with generative AI, agent frameworks, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines. Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions with clear deliverables and measurable outcomes. Comfortable using GitHub, JIRA, and Agile/Scrum delivery. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field. Eligible for Public Trust or equivalent clearance based on client requirements. Nice to Haves: Experience with open-source LLMs, such as LLaMA, Gemma, or Phi Experience in deep learning, NLP, or computer vision Experience with containerization and orchestration, including CI/C Experience writing concise technical documentation of solutions developed Experience presenting technical solutions to a broad audience Master's degree in computer science, Data Science, or Machine Learning Salary Range: $150K - $160K Our final salary offer will be based on several factors, including depth of technical skills, work experience, education, certifications, and clearance
