Senior Avionics Systems Engineer

We are looking for an experienced avionics display systems engineer to lead the development and certification of the centralized main displays, head-up-display (HUD), electronic standby display, and time clock systems of the aircraft. This includes developing the requirements, system architecture, interface documents, validation & verification plans, certification plans, etc. This systems specialist engineer role will work with a team of design partner engineers, the tier-1 avionics system supplier, as well as interactions with other interfacing systems and partners. Avionics System Engineer Responsibilities: - Create system architecture, system descriptions, interface documents and drawings, system schematics, installation drawings, functional test requirements for production, test plans, and test reports for new and/or upgraded systems. - Actively manage the development of system level and sub-system (component) level requirements, and their validation and verification according to ARP-4754A. - Coordinate and manage development of system software and complex hardware with the Avionics supplier(s) according to DO-178 and DO-254. - Lead certification related topics such as creation of certifications plans, responding to issue papers, and creation of FAA showing documents. - Develop analysis and requirement material related to safety (ARP-4761), reliability, and maintainability of the systems. - Assist the Avionics Lead Engineer to define and manage statement of work (SOW) activities for the design partner (Prime). - Assist the Avionics Lead Engineer to define and manage RFPs, SOWs and deliverables for the system suppliers. - Serve as Subject Matter Expert of your technical areas by providing technical support to the aircraft program management for conceptual designs, requirement development, proposal evaluation, design evaluation. - Champion and/or support change management for your technical areas through research, concepts, design reviews, trade studies, impact analysis, and implementation - Show compliance to 14 CFR Part 25, FAA aircraft regulations, as well as applicable aircraft operation regulations. - Research specifications for component selections. Work with suppliers, partners, and internal customers to assist with production and/or flight test, Witnessing tests, as well as investigating, troubleshooting, and resolution of build and test issues. - Provide extensive coordination with suppliers, partners, and cross-functional teams. - Interface with program customers, suppliers, and other engineering stakeholders - Perform system analyses and trade studies as needed. - Ensure system designs comply with allocated program and aircraft requirements. Avionics Requirements: - 10+ years of experience in systems development on commercial aircraft. - 5+ years of avionics display systems development on commercial aircraft. - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in avionics, electrical engineering, systems engineering, or related field. - Strong knowledge of complex systems development process methodologies and associated practices. (e.g.: ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178, DO-254). - Experience with the conceptual, preliminary design, and/or detailed design phases of the aircraft product development cycle is desired. - Working knowledge of the FAA system safety and certification processes. - Working knowledge of your technical area’s regulations, guidance, and standards for CFR Part 25 aircraft is preferred. - Strong certification knowledge and experience with Part 25 desired (Part 23 is OK). - Creative, curious, methodical and detail oriented. - Works well in a collaborative environment. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Approach problem solving with a holistic view. - Strong communication skills and can easily tailor your communication to suit the audience. - Ability to coordinate activities across multiple teams and companies.
