What you will be doing: We are seeking an experienced AWS Platform Senior Engineer to join our newly established AWS Practice Team, providing technical expertise and automation capabilities across our 40+ AWS accounts spanning production, development, sales, and proof-of-concept environments. This role will work closely with our AWS Practice Lead to deliver governance, optimization, and standardization across our diverse cloud infrastructure including legacy Windows/SQL Server platforms and modern Kubernetes deployments
Location: This position will be based in our Pittsburgh office. The candidate is required to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week but may voluntarily elect to work either remotely or from the Pittsburgh office for the remaining days of the week.
Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain monitoring and scanning tools for compliance verification across all AWS accounts Implement automated compliance and best practice verification systems Build cost analysis tooling and reporting automation for multi-account environments Design and deploy automated security and compliance scanning across all account types Create and maintain reporting dashboards for cost, security, and compliance metrics Conduct architecture reviews and provide optimization recommendations for both Windows/SQL Server and Kubernetes deployments Optimize container resource allocation and auto-scaling configuration across Kubernetes environments Analyze CI/CD pipeline costs and Jenkins infrastructure performance Support capacity planning and forecasting for rapid Kubernetes growth scenarios Develop infrastructure standards and best practice documentation Collaborate with Architecture, Security, CloudOps, ITOps, DevOps, and Engineering teams on strategic initiatives Implement account governance frameworks and policy development Support financial modelling, forecasting, and chargeback implementation Coordinate deployment processes and development environment standards Provide technical consultation and training to development teams Build self-service portals and automation tools to reduce manual processes Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for standardized deployments Develop cost anomaly detection and alerting systems Create automated resource tagging and organization compliance verification Maintain centralized documentation and best practices guidance Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience with deep knowledge of core services (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.) Strong automation and scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK Container and Kubernetes expertise including EKS, Docker, and orchestration best practices CI/CD pipeline experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools Monitoring and observability tools experience (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) Cost management and FinOps knowledge with AWS Cost Explorer, Billing APIs, and optimization strategies Multi-account AWS management experience with Organizations, Control Tower, or similar Windows/SQL Server on AWS experience with RDS, EC2, and related services Security and compliance knowledge including AWS Config, Security Hub, GuardDuty Networking expertise with VPCs, Transit Gateways, Load Balancers, and hybrid connectivity Desirable: FinOps or cloud cost management experience in enterprise environments Enterprise governance and compliance experience (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.) Large-scale cloud migrations from on-premises or legacy platforms Disaster recovery and business continuity planning and implementation Performance tuning and optimization for both traditional and cloud-native applications
