The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will support market and corporate leaders by providing data-driven insights regarding the performance of provider contracts and related processes. Candidates should be able to explore, analyze, and present insights from complex datasets. In this role, you will exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and completing work for complex projects with minimal supervision. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer:
Works with Humana corporate, market, and network leadership to understand business strategy and data analysis needs and implements solutions and technologies to meet those needs
Contributes to cross-functional or internal data analysis or reporting initiatives to deliver insights and recommend actions
Serves as the data and visualization subject matter expert in assigned portfolios of work; upholds and enforces the highest development standards
Provides mentoring to teammates to promote best practices and grow the organization, especially in low-code development using Microsoft Power Apps
Builds optimized, scalable, and well-documented analytical processes to mine, integrate, summarize, and analyze data from various platforms and enable or streamline data-drive processes in accordance with departmental standards

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum 3 years of experience using SQL to write complex queries against large data sets to derive insights and visualize the results with modern data visualization software such as Power BI
Minimum 1 year of experience designing, building, and maintaining technology solutions in low-code application technology like Microsoft Power Apps/Power Automate
Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams to translate requirements between business users and technical development teams
Ability to gather, analyze, interpret, and present complex data and create accurate and meaningful information for data reporting and decision support to senior leadership
Experience consulting with users at all levels of familiarity with modern BI tools to design and implement the appropriate solution
Proficiency in verbal/written communication to senior and executive leadership
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Work-At-Home Requirements
At minimum, a download speed of 25 mbps and an upload speed of 10 mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership
Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree
Certification in Power BI, Power Platform, Power Apps
Minimum 1 year of experience utilizing Power BI report builder
Experience using Python to create automated solutions
Experience using MS SQL Server, PL/SQL, Hive, Hadoop, Azure Synapse Analytics
Experience analyzing medical claims and provider data, especially using Humana’s internal data
Experience creating analytics solutions within the healthcare sector

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$89,000 - $121,400 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
