Position: Senior Cloud Security Engineer Duration: 12 Months Location: Columbia, SC (Hybrid - 2 days onsite, 3 days remote) (Need to apply only local candidates) Travel: Occasional travel required for customer engagements Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join our team for a 12-month engagement. The ideal candidate will collaborate with product owners, application teams, network, and security professionals to design, develop, and implement secure cloud-based solutions in both public and hybrid environments. This is a hands-on role requiring deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and security, with a strong emphasis on AWS and Azure platforms. Responsibilities: Design and deploy secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure and applications (AWS and Azure). Develop and implement cloud security automation and accelerators. Support and enhance SIEM, SOAR, and XDR solutions with Security Operations teams. Troubleshoot and resolve configuration issues across development, testing, and production environments. Ensure compliance with industry security and privacy standards (NIST, HIPAA, PCI, SOX, CMMC, etc.). Implement Zero Trust architectures and secure cloud frameworks. Participate in documenting security controls, tool deployments, and incident responses. Collaborate with stakeholders to derive security requirements and ensure successful solution delivery. Required Skills & Experience: 5-10 years of experience in information security and engineering. 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing and managing AWS and Azure cloud environments. Strong background in cloud security architecture, automation, and operations. Experience with Palo Alto VM-series firewall deployment and management in cloud environments. Proficiency in documenting security tools, configurations, and incidents. Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written. Prior experience working with state or local government clients is highly desirable. Education & Certifications (Required): Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience. Valid AWS or Azure cloud certification. Preferred Skills & Technologies: Experience with security tools and platforms such as: Palo Alto VM-series, Prisma Cloud, Forescout, Cisco Umbrella, F5 Load Balancers
Knowledge of secure CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native security controls. Preferred Certifications: CISSP - Certified Information Systems Security Professional SC-100 - Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect AWS Certified Solutions Architect Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE) PCNSA / PCNSE - Palo Alto Certifications
