*Job Summary*
Profense, LLC currently has a direct hire opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Phoenix, AZ area.
The *Senior Electrical Engineer* plays a critical role within the Profense Engineering Department, responsible for analyzing technical challenges, selecting appropriate components, designing and developing reliable and cost-effective PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies), and verifying that solutions effectively resolve identified issues. This position serves as a key interface between Engineering and the Marketing team, ensuring that product designs align with both operational needs and customer expectations.
*Position Purpose:*
The mission of the Profense Engineering Department is to deliver innovative, high-quality design solutions that support the organization’s marketing strategies and operational objectives. The Electrical Design Engineer contributes directly to this mission by ensuring the timely development of efficient, robust, and manufacturable systems.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Lead critical electrical engineering design projects from concept through production release. * Design and troubleshoot complex PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) systems. * Convert existing electrical schematics into production-ready PCBA designs. * Perform hands-on electrical tasks, including precision micro soldering and use of automated crimping tools. * Develop detailed cable assembly diagrams and corresponding work instructions. * Execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) efficiently and with minimal supervision. * Create conceptual designs and models that meet customer-defined requirements. * Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop conceptual design solutions. * Validate the performance of new designs by analyzing operational data provided through Marketing's customer engagement. * Prepare technical documentation including reports, presentations, and supporting material for Marketing and internal stakeholders. * Recommend and implement design changes to improve or exceed product performance specifications. * Actively participate in design brainstorming sessions and conduct formal design reviews. * Partner with the Engineering Manager to apply best practices in: Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), & Design for Operation (DFO) * Travel occasionally to customer sites and demonstration events to support product integration and performance validation.
*Education & Experience:*
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required). * Minimum of 10 years of hands-on electrical design experience (preferred). * Project management experience or formal project management training (preferred). * Experience participating in SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) teams is a plus.
*Technical Expertise:*
* Strong proficiency with a professional PCBA design software package such as *Altium Designer*. * Experience designing compact, efficient PCBAs for production. * Familiarity with *Real-Time Operating System (RTOS)* programming (a plus). * Background in *machining and CNC programming* is a plus. * Skilled in executing detailed schematic capture, layout, and design validation processes. * Proficiency in *Microsoft Office Suite* (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
*Analytical & Problem-Solving:*
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to support robust design and efficient issue resolution. * Ability to evaluate and improve designs to meet or exceed performance requirements.
*Interpersonal & Communication:*
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across Engineering, Marketing, and with customers. * Conversational proficiency in English is required.
*Work Environment & Requirements:*
* Ability to work independently within a collaborative, team-based environment. * Must be able to pass a *background check and drug screening*. * Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites or demonstration events.
*Schedule (Alternating 9/80):*
* 7:00 – 4:30 Monday – Thursday * 7:00 – 3:30 on Fridays with every other Friday being an off day

Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
