This is a professional individual contributor position that will report to Assistant Director of Engineering and Construction Management. As a senior electrical engineer of this section, the employee provides senior-level engineering guidance to projects and programs. This position is also expected to provide electrical engineering design for in-house Facilities Management and departmental projects. Required Job Qualifications Bachelors degree in electrical engineering
Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado OR ability to obtain a State of Colorado Professional Engineer license within 6 months.
5 years of professional experience in the operations, maintenance, planning and design of electrical distribution utilities and commercial building projects.
Preferred Job Qualifications Electrical distribution utilities and commercial building project experience for a similar educational facility, or university.
Essential Duties Job Duty Category ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGEMENT Duty/Responsibility Manage Engineering Projects
Review project scope, schedule and budget to ensure we can meet Facilities and Campus needs with the education and tools we have and need.
Building Construction Standards Review and update electrical standards of construction methods for both the utilities and buildings routinely.
Code Interpretations Provide code interpretations as requested with recommendations to Director.
Building electrical maintenance and operations are listed below in detail.
Energy conservation program is addressed below in detail.

Percentage Of Time 10% Job Duty Category ELECTRIC UTILITY MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS Duty/Responsibility Routine Maintenance Programs
Responsible for the monitoring of monthly expense reports and providing year-end projections. Coordinate expense management of annual operations funds.
Develop and implement plans to modify maintenance programs as needed to meet budget objectives. Recommend budget modifications in response to maintenance objectives and expense history.
Develop & Implement a utility inspection program for compliance with the Elec Shop PM in coordination with Elec Shop.
Minor Repair Projects Responsible for the identification, budget, expense, design, or design coordination of minor repair projects using annual operations funds.
Major Repair Projects Responsible for the identification, prioritization, budget, expense, design or design coordination and construction observation of major repair projects.
Utility Project Database
Review of database for completed projects and update as needed.
Outdoor Lighting Walk of Lights Program
Manage program as primary contact for Facilities Management and the campus. Identify deficiencies and develop projects to address problems and expansion needs. Inter projects into the Utility Project Database.
Percentage Of Time 15% Job Duty Category ELECTRIC UTILITY MASTER PLANNING ELECTRIC UTILITY MASTER PLANNING Duty/Responsibility Projects for Campus Growth Use new building programs and master plans to develop electric utility projects to support the growth.
Enter projects into Master Utility Project Database with all appropriate information.
Update Elec Master Plans draft plans and help with PIF rates revisions.
Utility Master Plan Notebooks Responsible for the development and production of the Electric Utility Master Plan notebooks for multiple campuses. Provide updates on projects, priorities and cost estimates as necessary.
Electric Utility Modeling Responsible for the selection of software, input and maintenance of electrical distribution attributes for modeling of the Electric Utility system. Identify areas of problems and deficiencies and develop projects accordingly.
Responsible for the development and implementation of utility master plans and related projects. Assist in review of construction projects related to utility systems such as utility connections. Assist in the demand and capacity issues for utility expansion.
Percentage Of Time 10% Job Duty Category BUILDING ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS Duty/Responsibility Routine Maintenance Programs Develop, review and coordinate implementation with Trades Manager and Electric Shop supervisor. Assist in estimates of annual costs and review of actual costs. Adjust program to meet safety, regulatory and budget constraints.
Work with Elec Shop Supervisor and Trades Manager to review and update Bldg Maintenance Plans.
Develop & Implement a building inspection program for compliance with the Elec Shop PM in coordination with Elec Shop Tet Sanchez.
Minor and Major Repair Projects Assist Trades Manager and Electric Shop Supervisor in the identification, cost estimate, design and construction of repair projects. Act as Project Manager when assigned.
Building Project Database List Assist Trades Manager in developing and submitting building electrical projects.
Electric System Modeling Develop and maintain electric system modeling within limits of resources.
Percentage Of Time 10% Job Duty Category ENERGY CONSERVATION PROGRAM Duty/Responsibility Analysis Review and analyze utility data for campus buildings to document and understand energy use and trends.
Energy Projects Investigate, develop and recommend energy conservation projects with a focus on in-house maintenance opportunities as well as larger funded projects.
City, State or Utility or Energy Funded Programs Coordinate with outside governments and/or utility companies to seek funding for new energy conservation opportunities. Route all opportunities through Utility Energy Engineer.
Percentage Of Time 5% Job Duty Category BUILDING DESIGN PROJECTS Duty/Responsibility Design Services Upon request, provide electrical design and construction services for remodel and new building projects.
Project Review Provide written review of all projects submitted by Design and Construction Management. Coordinate comments with project managers, A/E and contractors.
Revenue and Expense Review Provide monthly reviews of budgets and expenses. Identify revenue projections address shortfalls early and make adjustments.
