We are building a groundbreaking automation system designed to revolutionize warehouse operations through the integration of multiple innovative workcells. We are searching for a skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to lead the optimization, deployment, and enhancement of our fleet of robotic systems. The ideal candidate possesses substantial expertise in robotic path planning, motion control, and computer vision. You should be passionate about software development and architecture and have a proven track record of designing and implementing new products and features. As a hands-on expert, you will have a deep and comprehensive understanding of software tools and complex algorithm development. Join our applied automation & controls team to develop advanced control systems for manipulation robots using a tech stack that includes custom hardware, embedded Linux, computer vision, motor control, safety protocols, and I/O protocols for attached devices. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement highly reliable embedded control systems. Develop and optimize real-time control algorithms. Validate designs through simulation and real-world testing. Make architectural decisions that will influence the future of Amazon's warehouse robotics systems. Enhance observability tools to improve monitoring and debugging processes across global deployments. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Integrate, test, and validate new features on live systems, ensuring they meet stringent performance and reliability standards. Collaborate with experts from various disciplines—including perception, hardware, and software—to create intelligent, integrated systems and solutions. There will be a travel requirement of about 15-20% to support onsite system testing. Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship). 5+ years of experience in at least one programming language. 5+ years in a leading role, designing or architecting systems with a focus on design patterns, reliability, and scaling. Expertise in C/C++. Experience in building complex embedded systems. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years covering the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent. Experience with real-time motion control software and understanding of control systems theory. Proficient in troubleshooting and debugging hardware. Familiarity with common bus protocols such as Modbus, CAN bus, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, etc. Experience as a team lead or advisor responsible for technical deliverables. Pay Range: The base pay for this position typically ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market, based on various factors including experience and job-related knowledge.
