Senior Engineer, Connectivity
New Yesterday
Position Summary We’re seeking a technically skilled Senior Engineer, Connectivity to lead the design, maintenance, and evolution of data systems that support infrastructure telemetry and operational performance across a global environment. Success in this role will come from building robust ETL pipelines, managing SQL and time-series databases, and delivering real-time dashboards that enable full observability and data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments, collaborates well across technical teams, and has a strong bias toward automation and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines for structured and semi-structured data across telemetry systems, infrastructure platforms, and internal APIs.
Create and maintain real-time dashboards using Grafana and Power BI to monitor system uptime, performance, and operational KPIs.
Manage Microsoft SQL Server and time-series databases (e.g., InfluxDB), including schema design, stored procedures, SQL Agent jobs, and performance tuning.
Develop and enforce data governance standards through ERDs, data dictionaries, naming conventions, and schema hygiene.
Build and support data models for diagnostics, reporting, and monitoring use cases.
Write and optimize complex SQL and time-series queries involving CTEs, joins, window functions, and dynamic views.
Automate data ingestion, transformation, and validation workflows using Python, with appropriate exception handling and logging.
Collaborate with infrastructure, analytics, and operations teams to ensure end-to-end observability and accurate real-world performance insights.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
7+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, systems monitoring, or related fields.
Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including query tuning, stored procedures, schema governance, agent job management, and ERD design.
Advanced proficiency in Python for ETL development, telemetry automation, and REST API integration.
Strong ETL/data integration experience, including both batch and real-time ingestion pipelines.
Time-series database experience (e.g., InfluxDB or equivalent) for telemetry and operational monitoring.
Advanced knowledge of data warehouse management, including indexing, partitioning, and lifecycle governance.
Skilled in building operational dashboards using Grafana and Power BI.
Intermediate–advanced API experience, including RESTful data ingestion and JSON/XML parsing.
Proficiency in data modeling, including relational models, documentation, and naming conventions.
Experience working in Windows Server environments, including managing telemetry jobs and SQL Server Agent tasks.
Strong focus on data validation and anomaly detection to ensure integrity across large operational datasets.
Familiarity with workflow orchestration and job scheduling tools to automate data processing tasks.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience with observability frameworks, QoE metrics, and designing high-availability monitoring systems.
Proven ability to manage data across Dev, QA, and Production environments.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving instincts.
Effective communicator capable of translating technical telemetry into actionable insights.
Collaborative and adaptable, with experience working cross-functionally across IT, engineering, and analytics teams.
Self-motivated with a mindset for automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.
