As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will lead and perform engineering design in support of architectural and mechanical engineering projects related to mechanical design for HVAC, piping system, and controls work. Tasks will be in support of architectural and engineering projects related to new construction, renovation, and tenant improvement work. Senior Mechanical Project Engineers serve as a technical expert within the team and are responsible to lead the development of contract documents and orchestrate multidisciplinary team coordination. Senior Engineers work as part of a multi-discipline team managing the comprehensive development of mechanical engineering design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. This position will lead a production team of mechanical engineers and plumbing designers, manage workload distribution, and be responsible for the quality of the technical services provided. Assignments will include performing design calculations, interpreting and preparing reports, preparing cost estimates, and producing deliverable drawing sets for site plans, HVAC plans, piping plans, controls diagrams, details, schematics, and schedules. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Serves as a technical expert within the mechanical engineering team to plan the design process and solve problems of large scope and complexity. Assists Project Managers with fee development for mechanical engineering portions of work. Establishes, designs, and specifies project-appropriate mechanical engineering requirements. Plans, organizes, and directs the work of Mechanical Engineers, EITs, and Designers. Attends client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development. Conducts site investigations and observations. Prepares narratives, reports, calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints. Facilitates cross-discipline discussions and coordination. Reviews mechanical engineering documents for quality and compliance with code and program requirements. Participates in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFI’s, solving construction issues, and performing site visits to assess general conformance with the design concept. Mentors and encourages the development of junior professionals and designers. Develops training and educational opportunities for the mechanical engineering team. Assesses and recommends improvements relative to mechanical engineering software, design procedures, standard details, and master specifications. Performs marketing and business development activities including building relationship with key clients and strategic partners, proposal writing, fee estimates, and client interviews. Travel for marketing and project-related activities will be required. Qualifications
ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis Minimum 15 years’ experience in mechanical engineering on a wide variety of projects within the A/E industry Large project experience required. Project experience in healthcare and/or federal work is preferred Mechanical PE license required Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards (Energy, LEED, ASHRAE, Production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets in Revit MEP and AutoCAD required Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency using load, system sizing, and energy modeling software required Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills Ability to plan and distribute workload and lead a production team of mechanical engineers and designers Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately Why Join LEO A DALY?
