Job Description
Are you ready to build the next generation of play? Join the Creative Play Lab at LEGO to invent groundbreaking new play opportunities and unique creative experiences for LEGO fans worldwide. As a senior contributor in our Hardware Engineering team, you'll operate globally within the Play Engineering organization in Product Innovation and Design, based in Boston or Billund.
Core Responsibilities:
Develop RF and magnetics requirements, design, verify, characterize, tune, and certify radio and electromagnetic subsystems in complex mechatronic toys.
Design, simulate (using COMSOL, QSPICE), prototype, and optimize RF circuits and antennas across various frequency ranges, including ISM and HF bands.
Create and implement RF test plans for design verification using equipment like network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and anechoic chambers.
Ensure compliance with global radio, EMC, and immunity standards (FCC, CE, IC, JRL, CCC) through mitigation techniques, pre-compliance testing, and design updates.
Collaborate closely with mechanical and embedded engineering teams across Boston, Denmark, and Singapore to support growth and innovation.
Ideal Candidate:
Passionate about leveraging technology to create extraordinary play experiences for children.
Extensive experience in RF/electromagnetic hardware design, validation, and regulatory certification.
Hands-on experience with wireless and NFC standards used in consumer electronics.
Proficiency in antenna design, simulation, and tuning for performance and regulatory compliance.
Experienced with test equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and anechoic chambers.
Strong organizational and communication skills for global engineering projects.
Willingness to travel approximately 15-30 days per year.
Location & Work Model:
This role can be based in Boston, MA, USA, or Billund, Denmark, with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary ranges from $113,000 to $169,000, plus bonus eligibility, based on responsibilities and market factors. Benefits include family leave, insurance, wellness programs, colleague discounts, and a global bonus scheme.
