Job Title: Senior IT Data Engineer Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid) Type: Contract

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Data Engineer to design, implement, and manage modern cloud and hybrid data systems in a mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in cloud-native data platforms, infrastructure as code (IaC), and hybrid architectures integrating both cloud and on-premises solutions.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions using Amazon Aurora, Snowflake, Databricks, and Amazon Redshift

Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to automate provisioning and configuration

Manage hybrid data ecosystems combining cloud platforms with on-premises databases such as Microsoft SQL Server

Optimize data models, warehouses, lakes, and pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency

Collaborate with DevOps, Data Science, and Business Intelligence teams to deliver reliable and secure data products

Required Qualifications:

7+ years of experience working in production environments with cloud data platforms, data lakes, warehouses, and data pipelines

Strong hands-on experience with RDBMS, NoSQL databases, and modern data architecture

Proficiency in AWS cloud services related to data engineering

Expertise in both cloud-native and hybrid data systems

Solid background in scripting, automation, and performance optimization

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields

Preferred Certifications:

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional

AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty or Data Engineer – Associate

AWS Certified Developer – Associate
