The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lead Information Security Engineer specializing in MTIPS policy and design, to join the Public Sector Security Architecture and Engineering team. In this role, you will be a part of a team that builds security solutions to protect Lumen public sector customers and infrastructure, from advanced security threats. The ideal candidate will be responsible for certifying architecture designs, creating implementation guides and training security operations teams, to support existing MTIPS environments and new infrastructure designs. This role requires a deep understanding of cyber security and IP network technologies and best practices in information security and CISA controls. Additionally, this role requires recurring collaboration with Product Management, IT, Architecture, Engineering and Operations teams, to provide subject matter expertise.

What We Look For In A Candidate Proven experience implementing modern security systems using industry-leading technologies in both lab and production environments.
Skilled in developing architecture certifications, low-level design documents, configuration templates, and implementation guides.
Hands-on deployment of production systems and training of operations teams.
Expertise in customer-facing security services including:
Access control, firewalls/UTM, WAF, web filtering, IDS/IPS, VPN (IPSec/SSL), AV/AS, email/messaging security
DDoS protection, flow analysis, and application monitoring
Strong hands-on experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.
Proficient with Cisco security platforms (Firepower, AnyConnect, ASA) and network hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Arista).
Familiar with integrated network, data center, virtualization, and cloud architectures.
U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible for government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with federal MTIPS or TIC programs.
Background in SOC infrastructure engineering and deployment.
Familiarity with federal accreditation processes (DoD/federal environments).
Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
Knowledge of FISMA, DCID, NIST, FedRAMP, CISA, and GSA compliance frameworks.
Experience with Managed Security Services (e.g., log management, vulnerability scanning, email security, key/cert management).
Proficiency with data center platforms (edge/core devices, switches, load balancers).
Background in software development and automation (testing, troubleshooting, provisioning).
Understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, and orchestration tools.
Experience with Agile methodologies and project management practices.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. Location Based Pay Ranges: $129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY. $136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI. $142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
