The Role We are in search of a talented and experienced Senior Lead Information Security Engineer, who is proficient in Automation, API Security, Cloud Computing, Networking, and Virtualization. This key position will be part of our Security Architecture & Engineering team, tasked with developing and implementing security solutions that safeguard Lumen’s customers and infrastructure from advanced threats. Main Responsibilities Security Engineering: Research, evaluate, engineer, develop, troubleshoot, and support solutions and infrastructure for our Managed Security portfolio. Technical Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation and test procedures, apply robust security controls, and define scalable standards. Solution Design: Collaborate with Product Management, Development, Architecture, and Operations teams to design complex security solutions independently. Innovation: Contribute knowledge regarding multivendor network, compute, virtualization, and security infrastructure to envision new products and features. Process Improvement: Identify and improve operational processes for optimization, automation, and security enhancements. Infrastructure Support: Provide guidance for the ongoing scalability, management, and monitoring of deployed solutions. Lifecycle Management: Offer insights for platform lifecycle management and support. Vendor Relations: Build partnerships with key equipment suppliers and communicate requirements to develop and support security solutions. What We Look For in a Candidate Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. Government personnel security clearance. Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or 8+ years of related experience. 10+ years of professional Python coding experience (Perl, C, Rust, Java also valuable). Relevant security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA). Experience in security infrastructure engineering, cloud deployment, and scaling. Strong knowledge of cloud platform services, networking, storage, and cloud-native tools. Familiarity with virtualization and orchestration technologies. Cloud Certifications: AWS/Azure/GCP. Advanced understanding of networking (BGP, GRE, VLAN, IPSec, VPN). Expertise in cryptography, compression, and virtualization performance (eBPF, XDP, CUDA). Experience with DevOps/QA tools (SonarQube, OWASP ZAP, Junit). Knowledge of Cloud & IaC monitoring tools (Pulumi, Chef/Puppet/SaltStack). DevSecOps knowledge involving cloud/container security and software scanning. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with federal regulations (FISMA, NIST) and security infrastructure engineering.
