Position Summary
Responsibilities will include providing verification of the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant Equipment and Systems and as well as the construction of the entire facility with respect to mechanical and process related engineering/design activities. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, this position will support the development of mechanical systems and equipment for the Iraq Projects by reviewing the Engineer of Record (EOR) prepared engineering deliverables including: studies, calculations, piping and instrumentation diagrams, heat & mass balance diagrams, calculations, engineering specifications, data sheets, piping isometrics, material requisitions, and more in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. This position will support the SEA activities of major equipment procurement including specification development/review, technical evaluations, and review/acceptance of all vendor provided mechanical submittals.
Essential Functions:
Serve as the senior mechanical engineer for the Iraq combined cycle conversion power projects from project development to completion.
Provide comprehensive review and acceptance of the produced engineering deliverables from the EOR in accordance with the Contract requirements, industry accepted standards and constructive feasibility practices.
Create and update various Technical Specifications for mechanical equipment as procured by SEA and for reviewing/accepting those technical specification which may be developed by the EOR.
Provide technical comprehensive review and acceptance of offered equipment proposals and preliminary engineering deliverables from the OEMs in accordance with the Contract requirements.
Provide comprehensive review and acceptance of the produced engineering deliverables from the OEMs (Steam Turbine, HRSG, BFP, Water Treatment, etc., in accordance with the Contract requirements and oversee the various Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) from Project start to completion ensuring timely submission of documents and accuracy/acceptance thereof.
Resolve technical issues related to the discipline independently including any required interface with other disciplines, functions, vendors, and/or client performing technical bid evaluations.
Manage technical specifications, procedures, and design data, as applicable to the assigned project(s).
Work with Supply Chain in obtaining proposals and evaluating them; work in conjunction with Supply Chain and Project Management in selecting the equipment manufacturers.
Collaborate with Customers, Engineering and Construction contractors, and vendors/suppliers, providing timely resolutions of mechanical engineering issues.
Collaborate with external engineering companies in designing system around the main equipment, document review, etc.
Work with other functions and disciplines in a team environment and coordinate within the mechanical group and other disciplines/functions independently in developing system designs.
Develop, assign, and track actions needed to keep the project on track.
Other Complimentary Functions:
Review engineering related deliverables prepared by the Team before passing to Contractor.
Review and approve project related general mechanical design/ engineering matters submitted by the Contractor(s).
Providing comprehensive support for all engineering processes.
Effectively apply methodology and enforce/adhere to project standards.
Highlight and evaluate risks on the project as related to discipline engineering activities and deliverables (or absence of same)
Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Provide support in claim management and documentation including variation management and reporting and contract entitlements as related to the evaluated engineering work products by the Contractor.
Support Iraq assigned Engineers and SEA Construction Site personnel during Construction and Commissioning phase by timely responding to RFIs and other information requests.
Effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors.
Monitor and verify EOR’s engineering work progress for the purpose of progress payments.
Supports project closeout (i.e., punch list items, client final acceptance, etc.).
Assists with warranty requests by assessing and executing a corrective action plan.
Attend regular status meetings with project team.
Participates in ISO 9001 and other audits.

Competencies
Strong acumen in process mechanical design including equipment design & specifications.
Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering work processes, procedures, and specifications

Work Environment
Most work is performed in an office environment. Infrequent trips to the vendor facilities for observation and support may be necessary which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and head protection.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is largely a sedentary role. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
The employee must be able to bend, climb, stoop, or stretch as required to examine fabricated components at the vendor facilities during FATs or other inspections.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Overtime and weekend work are required as necessary.
Travel
Remote, required to come onsite to the corporate headquarters in Jacksonville, FL as needed. Anticipated 10% travel for this position.
Required Education and Experience
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college with years of progressive related experience, or in lieu of a degree, years of progressive related experience
Mechanical discipline project design engineering experience in power and/or utility stations.
Related experience must include, but is not limited to, experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, fluid system design, hydraulic, heat transfer, and thermodynamic calculations, and equipment specification and design development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities
Familiar with the selection and technical requirements of general mechanical equipment including Gas Turbine, Heat Recovery Steam Generator, Steam Turbine, Heat exchangers, Water Treatment Systems, Rotating Machinery, etc.
Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards
Extensive knowledge and application of ANSI/ASME Codes and Standards including ASME B31.1 or B31.3
Other Preferred Education and Experience
Minimum of 10 years of project experience for projects in excess of $250mUSD
Knowledge of 3D CAD software and AutoCAD preferred.
Engineering/Construction exposure in multiple disciplines.
Knowledgeable of construction/engineering scheduling and execution processes.
Good analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills in a matrix and multi-cultural environment.
Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
