Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Senior Practice Builder, Forensic/Mechanical Engineer to expand our practice in our Jacksonville, Florida office.
Responsibilities
Kimley-Horn is in search of a Forensic Accident Reconstruction Practice Builder to market and win work in our Jacksonville, Florida office. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, will create a vision for growth for their practice and will contribute to the overall growth of the forensics team. This person will lead the business development effort and manage the relationships with key clients.
Essential job functions and responsibilities include: conduct vehicular accident reconstruction, premise liability, mechanical failure analysis, and investigations for various types of clients; provide timely and accurate technical findings in both verbal and written form to clients; and support conclusions by appropriate testimony in depositions and trials. In addition, the practice builder will be responsible for the development of client relationships and retention of those clients and growing the forensic engineering team as the practice grows. In this highly visible role, authoring professional publications, participating in professional societies and maintaining professional and technical knowledge will be important.
The successful candidate will be given a great deal of autonomy to lead, direct, and grow their business. Accounting, administrative, marketing, recruiting, IT and production support will be provided. This position will support the growth of the firm in our forensics and mechanical practices
Develop and maintain good relationships with coworkers, industry peers, and clients
Perform and review structural design calculations, prepare project document submittal packages, and maintain Quality Control for the entire project
Conduct site investigations and structural evaluations while documenting field observations and preparing technical reports
Support and participate in meetings and presentations with clients, owners, contractors, and design team members
Contribute to identifying project opportunities through networking with new and existing clients

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university in the field of Mechanical Engineering, advanced degree a plus
Registered Professional Engineer ( license
10 years+ of experience in Forensics with at least 5 years’ experience directly managing projects
Verifiable record of ongoing training in the field of accident reconstruction
ACTAR certified preferred (or an ability to acquire certification)
Proven track record of successfully managing clients and projects
Business development skills and the proven ability to win work
Knowledge of AutoCAD, MathCAD, VCrash a plus
Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills
Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization
Ability to manage and mentor staff and direct resources effectively in a positive manner
Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably
