Our Senior Engineer works on developing and executing complex process control systems integration projects, fostering relationships with customers, and developing business in and around Houston, Texas
Job Type : Full-Time
Location : Remote-first with work in customer facilities as needed. Up to 25% overnight travel and local travel to Houston area clients. Preference will be given to candidates based in Houston and surrounding areas.
Salary: $135,000 - $175,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
On a typical day you will:
Coordinate a team of engineers and, at times, work independently
Solve technical issues related to the delivery of projects
Write design documentation, develop applications, and meet with clients
Assist Avid’s sales team with job estimating and proposal processes
Mentor Engineers during start up and execution of projects
Monitor and maintain project budgets in coordination with Project Manager
Help coordinate all aspects of project phases.
Interface with customers during technical discussions, sales meetings, and relationship building, providing knowledge and insight to drive implementation of a successful solution
Identify opportunities for new projects with existing customers or engage new customers on your own or with Avid’s sales team
Lead or work within the entire lifecycle of the project from walkthroughs, qualifications, implementation, and cost of ownership
Be responsible for the resource management of the team, resource planning and task assignment
Track progress on the tasks delegated to the members of the team and work with the Project manager for tracking tasks to schedule them
Execute and support FATs or onsite SATs and start-up and commissioning activities
Support updates for customer’s life-cycle documentation as it relates to individual projects
We are looking for someone with a solid background in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical preferred) and at least 10 years of overall technical experience in the process control industry, with at least 5+ years in the Chemical, Energy, and/or Oil and Gas industries.
Requirements:
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in hands-on process controls and systems integration
B.S. in an Engineering discipline or other related field or equivalent work experience and training
Experience with various unit operations
Extensive start-up and commissioning experience
Strong experience with Experience with PLCs (Rockwell Automation PlantPAx) and/or DCS systems.
Understanding of common control strategies, PI&Ds, Industry Standards such as ISA-101, ISA-18.2.
Experience with building strong client relationships and client trust
Thrive in a fast-paced agile work environment which requires proactiveness and good communication skills to keep your teammates and clients up to date
Strong ability to mentor and train early career engineers during design, development, testing, and deployment of systems (e.g., start-up and commissioning)
Ability to work effectively within a group, placing team goals above personal interests to contribute positively to team dynamics and achievements
The ideal candidate will have:
BS in Engineering or relevant Technology focused degree
Controls/automation Engineer, with a minimum of 10+ years of overall experience in Process Control / Automation
A minimum of 5+ years of Process Industry experience - (LNG/liquefaction, compressor controls, industrial gases, SIS, hydrogen, general chemical processes)
Experience in consulting Front-End Loading (FEL) or system integration is a plus
Experience with client relationship building is a plus
Strong experience with technical management of projects and execution
Experience supporting peer development through mentoring and coaching activities
