We are looking for capable, innovative, and enthusiastic achievers to join our team and grow with us. We are currently seeking a Senior Process Engineer at the site in Eddyville, IA.
What You Will Do The Senior Process Engineer will Support Cyclodextrin (CD), Enzyme Fermentation, Cyclodextrins Complexing and Cyclodextrins Derivatives produced in the NCA region. This role will also serve as Chemist of Record for those materials produced in the region, as well as focus on efforts to improve quality and production costs through process optimizations, process development, leading investigations into relevant quality issues, customer complaints and complex technical issues. Lastly, this role will serve as the Reaction Chemist supporting Process Safety Management (PSM) activities and Management of Change (MOC) approval processes.
Support for Cyclodextrins, Enzyme Fermentation, Cyclodextrin Complexing and Cyclodextrin Derivatives produced in the NCA region
Responsible for developing and maintaining a systematic know-how documentation and management system.
Responsible for developing and maintaining key process related documents, e.g. Process Descriptions, Heat and Mass Balance ('Aspen Process Modeling'), Process Training documentation.
Responsible for delivering process related training, e.g. annual process refresher trainings for operators as per OSHA requirements.
Productivity, Process Optimization and Development - overview role for all CD related activities within WACKER
Responsible for coordinating the collection of process information gathered from actual production and supporting process issues challenges and helping drive solutions through regular interaction, good communication and utilizing analytical skills.
Maintaining and analyzing data generated out of Production Productivity Tools, e.g. PI (Process Information System), BISS/OEE, etc.
Actively contributing to CD and Enzyme related WOS projects and actively developing and proposing process improvements.
Coordinating and participation in activities related to relevant lab trials, bench top trials, and plant trials within WACKER: trial targets, preparations, execution, testing, trial evaluation, documentation.
Support and develop skills regarding Six-sigma projects set up within WACKER related to Eddyville (EDY) production
Manages feasibility level projects and ability to act as PME for projects beyond feasibility level, supports PMEs on EDY and tolling related projects
Authority for approval of any process changes within the Process Chemist/Process Engineering Scope
Process changes managed through eMOC, debottlenecking or expansion projects. Responsibilities include evaluation of any suggested process changes regarding expected effect on the process performance and risk involved with the change and recommending actions.
Supports EDY Process Safety Program
Lead on Reaction Chemistry - Responsible for process and chemistry information input required for Process Hazard Analysis (or WACKER Analysis) as per WACKER Group Directive A 07-04-03. Coordinating and initiating material property tests. Enrolls subject matter experts as necessary (Corporate or Third Party) to ensure safety of new and modified reactions.
Facilitates DHAs and PHAs for the site
Understands standards relating to these important programs and pulls in subject matter experts as necessary to close gaps
Maintaining network to related expert's functions.
What We Need From You Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or another related technical degree.
8-12 years of Engineering experience
Experience leading root cause investigations
Experience assessing risk to business, health, safety and to environment with limited immediate input from others
Strong knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and PSM and combustible dust standards and processes
Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations, in particular, Title V permitting
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45000 standards, ISO 22000 regulations and food safety regulations
Ability to assess risk to the business, health, safety and to the environment quickly with limited immediate input from others
Understand key performance and engineering standards that are applicable to our Processes and demonstrates ability to conform to those standards
Demonstrated track record of identifying opportunities to drive business success and executing on these opportunities.
Ability to quickly learn, understand and ultimately teach others new topics
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in all communication methods
Ability to travel up around 10-20% - depending on business need.
