Educational background
Verdox is dedicated to reversing climate change through the development and deployment of advanced technology. Our proprietary electro-swing process, developed at MIT, enables carbon dioxide and other acid gasses to be captured with up to 80% less energy and 70% less cost than conventional approaches. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and highly skilled team. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Senior Product Development Engineer will lead efforts to create and commercialize groundbreaking products, and serve as a key contributor to the growth of Verdox.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical design of complex components and systems, including 3D models, component and assembly drawings
- Conduct design reviews, FMEA and other product development best practices
- Design, build and test prototype systems, support design verification activities
- Manage product and component requirements, ensure quality of incoming materials
- Translate prototype designs into scalable solutions achieving performance & cost targets
- Develop and implement large scale embodiments of Verdox technologies
- Lead hardware development efforts
- Collaborate with Technology Development and other internal and external stakeholders
- Work with Supply Chain to identify and develop new suppliers
- Create Verdox SOPs related to product design and development
- Support field installations of Verdox products
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Educational background
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline, MS preferred
Work Experience
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing complex electromechanical products or systems required
- Experience working in an ISO regulated environment strongly preferred
Job Skills, Experience, and Abilities
- Proficiency with Solidworks, GD&T, ASME Y14.5 preferred
- High level of hands-on experience building and testing complex systems required, preferably within a structured phase-gate process
- Ability to brainstorm and communicate complex technical designs to diverse audiences
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and certification processes
- Demonstrated project management experience working with interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, highly collaborative & rapidly evolving startup environment
- Experience with gas or liquid processing systems a plus
- Willingness to contribute in areas outside of core competencies to meet company needs
Physical requirements/Work environment
- 60% Shop-floor and laboratory work environment, 40% office environment
- Ability to lift components weighing up to 35 lbs. is required
- May be required to sit or stand for prolonged periods, as needed
Travel Required
- Up to 10-20% possible, including domestic and international sites
