This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the goal for this candidate to be their long-term. The pay rate for this role is in the $140,000-$150,000 range. Licensure, Certification, and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 8 or more years of experience in the design and construction of public infrastructure. Licensed professional engineer in Oregon (or able to obtain registration through reciprocity within six months of hire). Working knowledge of public construction contracting, bidding, and project management. Familiarity with codes, regulations, and standards related to public drinking water systems. Valid Oregon Driver’s license and clean driving record. About Our Client Our client is a public drinking water utility serving the fastest-growing community in Oregon. They focus on meeting future drinking water needs through an innovative 20-year capital improvement program. They seek a Senior Engineer to lead planning, design, procurement, and construction efforts. Position Overview The Senior Engineer will oversee the capital improvement program involving major transmission, storage, and pumping projects, along with replacement and resiliency initiatives. The position provides a collaborative environment, mentorship opportunities, and involvement in a growing public organization. Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a solid civil engineering background, thorough understanding of public water systems, and the ability to manage multiple projects. Strong project management, technical skills, and a commitment to high-quality, cost-effective solutions are essential. Supervisory experience and knowledge of public construction contracting are a plus. Essential Functions Assist in capital project planning and delivery for public drinking water systems. Conduct asset management and emergency resiliency planning. Schedule and deliver renewal and replacement projects. Prepare and review design and bid documents for procurement. Participate in preparing RFPs and hiring consultants and contractors. Oversee development applications and infrastructure design approvals. Manage consulting and construction services related to capital projects. Prepare reports, spreadsheets, databases, and technical materials. Assist with budgeting and staff supervision. Lead work groups and be responsible for team outcomes. Model excellent customer service and represent the organization professionally. Pass drug/alcohol screening and background check.
