General Description:
Ensures that vehicle interior systems and components such as Instrument Panel, Door Trim Panels, Headliner, Center Console and Pillar Garnish Trim Panels meet safety standards and regulations. This involves developing and implementing product designs and manufacturing processes focused on safety strategies, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating with various teams to integrate safety features. The role also includes ensuring compliance with standards like ISO 26262 and contributing to the development of safety-related documentation.
Position Specific Requirements (PSR):
Experienced professional in restraint system integration, head/knee/side impact countermeasures and latching mechanisms into automotive interior products such as Instrument Panels, Door & Pillar Trim Panels, Consoles and Overheads
Develop various systems and their integration/application across commodities (IP, Door & Pillar Trim, Consoles, Seats and Overheads)
Work closely with the OEM's safety teams and design engineers as needed.
Work closely with any directed safety system sub-suppliers.
Provide input into necessary criteria to meet both safety and design goals.
Provide expertise on safety systems and associated testing (FMVSS 201/208/214/226)
Additional skills that would be an advantage for candidates
Experience in testing (crash, deployment, etc.)
Experience across the different aspects of deployments within our main commodities.
Work with our internal lab on developing test/validation plans, reviewing results and root cause analysis
Build on an existing lesson learned and best practice database and maintain going forward.
Set up and assist our manufacturing plants in continuous conformance testing and compliance
Knowledge and problem-solving capabilities in regard to processes such as tear seam scoring (laser, sonic, knife), vibration, sonic and infrared welding, etc. that affect the safety restraint systems.
Education:
BS/BA required
MA preferred
Experience:
5-10 years in a dedicated role, or 10-15 years combined experience with emphases on safety products.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Good communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Knowledge of CAE analysis.
Knowledge of latest technological advancement in the field of airbags.
