You’ll work on building intuitive, reliable, and highly performant Android experiences that allow customers to monitor and control Roku smart devices—from cameras and lights to sensors and beyond.This role offers the opportunity to work across a modern, evolving tech stack including Kotlin, Compose, and Google's latest frameworks. You’ll collaborate closely with design, product, and cross-functional engineering teams to bring innovative features to life, improve performance, and make everyday smart home interactions seamless.You should be motivated by curiosity and initiative—eager to take ownership of features and run with them, while remaining grounded in a team-first, collaborative mindset.For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $286,000 - $340,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.What You’ll Be DoingDesign and build advanced applications and features for the Android platformIntegrate with cloud APIs and local device communication protocols to control smart devicesWrite and maintain tests using frameworks such as JUnit and EspressoCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features for mobile devices, optimizing touch experiences. Write well-designed, testable, and efficient codeDebug, profile, and optimize app performance across a range of Android devicesParticipate in design and code reviews, helping elevate code quality across the teamStay up to date with Android platform capabilities, tools, and libraries, and propose how we can leverage themContribute to roadmap planning, technical design, and release deliveryWe’re Excited If You HaveProfessional Android development experience, ideally with Kotlin and/or ComposeStrong experience shipping and maintaining production apps in the Play StoreProficiency in using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) and experience with prompt engineeringExperience working with IoT or networked device interactions is a big plusFamiliarity with BLE, web sockets, or MQTT protocols is a bonusExperience collaborating with cross-functional teams in agile environmentsProficient in the Android development toolsetStrong understanding of Android architecture, UI/UX patterns, and app lifecycleExcellent communication and debugging skillsBachelor’s or Master’s/PHD in Computer Science or related technical field#LI-SB5BenefitsRoku is committed to offering a diverse range of benefits as part of our compensation package to support our employees and their families.
