Job title:Senior Structural Engineer Location:Ringwood ​ Relationships​ ​ Internal and external contacts at high level including Directors, other Managers and staff within Churchill Retirement Living, officers of local authorities and senior partners / directors of external consultants.​ ​ Good working relationships are essential in the development of close understanding with other departments within the Company, together with the creation of good team morale and high esteem.​ ​ High level of tact, understanding and persuasiveness is essential, which has to be blended with professionalism and business acumen.​ ​ ​ Main Duties and Responsibilities​ ​ ​Report to the Group Construction/Commercial Director on all matters for current projects and recommend future strategies.​ ​Produce engineering strategies to be considered by the Operations Board of the Company to meet the changing construction requirements.​ ​Review desktop studies and ground investigations to provide initial information on all prospective land acquisitions, to enable cost implications to be taken into consideration.​ ​Ensure that designs are always practical, cost effective and functional and will fully meet the design criteria for the company, taking into account the changing Building Regulations.​ ​Reviewing reports, drawings and calculations prepared by outside consultants.​ ​Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legislation, regulations and product development relating to engineering, foundation design andbuilding design including Building Regulations
Conditions of Work​ ​ Office based, although visits to potential sites, local authority offices and development sites will be required. Required to work such hours as are necessary to fulfil the duties, which will include attendance at meetings, sometimes during evenings. ​May be required to work extended hours to complete a project and it may be necessary to take work home on occasion ​Physical stress and strainis consistent with this level of appointment, including the need to works within specified deadlines and budgets and frequently requiring considerable mental application to reduce problems. ​Use of AutoCAD facility, which can be visually demanding. ​ About us We are Churchill Living, the leading provider of housing that offers freedom, independence, and unrivalled living value for the over 60s, and we’re looking for people like you!
