Description Leidos is in search of a talented Senior Systems Engineer to enhance and maintain the development lab environment for a prestigious DOD contract. We are looking for a proactive Linux System Engineer to join our team and oversee a dynamic, multi-platform lab environment tailored for developers and system architects. You will play a crucial role in configuring, maintaining, and optimizing essential systems that promote innovation and expedited prototyping. Primary Responsibilities Manage and maintain the VMware vSphere/vCenter virtualization infrastructure, ensuring peak availability, performance, and security. Build, manage, and support a Linux server environment, including deployment of releases, system configuration, troubleshooting, and hardening (STIG compliance and patching). Configure, monitor, patch, and maintain load balancers, F5, and application layer gateway products to guarantee high availability and security compliance. Maintain and support the Windows Active Directory (AD) environment, focusing on user account management, group policy configuration, and a limited number of Windows domain controllers. Act as the Tier 3 escalation point for Helpdesk, delivering expert-level troubleshooting and resolution of complex IT issues. Assist Service Delivery and Developers in designing, staging, and deploying NIPR and SIPR based deliverables as necessary. Conduct periodic reviews of operational functions, practices, and solutions, providing pragmatic solutions for any identified constraints. Manage and maintain certificates, keys, and other identity elements required for access to production or lab resources. Install and configure cross-domain High Speed Guard and other cross-domain hardware components. Develop, manage, and configure application policies for Email and application level Gateways like SEG, Broadcom API, and Policy Manager. Support the Engineering team in constructing and testing proof of concept environments involving cross-domain hardware and software. Basic Qualifications Associate's degree in Information Systems or a related discipline with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems or a closely related field with a minimum of 8 years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Current IAT Level II or higher certification, such as Security +. Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret. Experience with building, configuring, patching, and maintaining Windows/Linux Servers via Ansible or other automation tools. Thorough understanding of deploying on-premises systems in virtual and containerized settings. Foundational knowledge of basic networking and network protocols (such as TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, SSH, and ports). Proven experience in reviewing system logs and events to troubleshoot issues effectively. Ability to develop and provide solutions for complex technical issues affecting development, testing, and production environments. Experience in creating and managing critical system work instructions and Standard Operating Procedure documentation. Served as a technical escalation resource for Tier 2 or Help Desk support teams. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Comprehensive understanding and experience in troubleshooting cross-domain Mission Partner (M.P.) data flow interruptions. Strong knowledge in configuring and supporting Secure Email Gateway (SEG). Familiarity with writing or updating application layer Gateways (ALG) to enhance or resolve application-specific traffic issues. Experience with PDQ and Satellite software deployment tools for Linux and Windows environments. Ready to push boundaries and innovate?
