Job Description Senior Transmission Line Design Engineer
The engineer will lead the design and specification of transmission line projects, ensuring compliance with client standards, NERC/RRO regulations, and environmental requirements. This role involves cross-department collaboration, contractor oversight, and project documentation while staying current with design technologies and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and manage transmission line projects, including specs, right-of-way, and compliance documentation.
- Oversee and coordinate with external consultants, vendors, surveyors, and internal teams.
- Ensure all designs adhere to safety, NERC/RRO, and RUS standards.
- Research and implement new design techniques to improve performance and cost-efficiency.
- Analyze system performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor technical staff.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (required)
- Masters in Engineering or Business (preferred)
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years in transmission line design (experience with 69, 138, 161, and 345 kV preferred)
Skills:
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and customer service orientation
