IMEG is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to work in either our Chicago/Naperville, IL, R ockford, IL, or Bettendorf, IA office. As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will be responsible for providing a high level of leadership, mentoring and training for less experienced staff. This could be technical, project management, marketing or business development in nature.
Principal Responsibilities:
Lead design efforts for the analysis of complex transportation projects, including highway, bridges, transit systems, and multimodal transportation networks
Responsible for Transportation design including with project team and providing the team with advanced technical oversight
Performs site assessments and generates detailed analysis and technical reports
Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
Provide in-process design reviews of transportation infrastructure design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence; Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements
Provide technical training and mentoring; Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with minimal support from senior staff
Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work; Interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
Lead project interviews and project presentations
Required Skills/Abilities:
Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills for transportation planning, engineering design, and regulatory processes
Advance knowledge with local, state, and federal transportation regulations, environmental, policies, and permitting procedures
Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, required
Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
14 years of experience minimum required, 16 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
Salary Range $98,000 - $141,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
