Software Engineer (Employee #1)
New Yesterday
Lexe is a San Francisco–based startup building the future of Bitcoin’s Lightning Network. Lightning Network adoption faces critical challenges: unreliable offline receive capabilities, expensive node hosting, and loss of self-sovereignty from custodial wallets. Lexe’s radical next-generation architecture fixes these problems by leveraging Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to create secure, always-online Lightning nodes that don’t compromise on self-custody, and which come with free node hosting, infinite liquidity, and no KYC.Lexe recently closed its pre-seed round and is now hiring - we're looking for an engineer who's hungry and looking for a hard and ambitious software project to commit themselves to. Lexe is hiring EMPLOYEE NUMBER 1 to help us quickly ship a ton of upcoming products and features, including channel splicing, BIP 353, Lightning Address, NWC (NIP-47), VSS, Spark, off-chain swaps, and SDKs which allow other wallets and consumer apps to add self-custodial Lightning into their products. Most of your work will be in Rust, but you’ll have opportunities to also work with Nix and Flutter/Dart if those align with your interests. We work out of the beautiful Presidio Bitcoin office in SF with a direct view of the Golden Gate Bridge. We are looking for systems programming experience in Rust, C++, C, or similar. We aren’t over-indexing on experience (new grads welcome), but our ideal candidate has at least one year of engineering experience at a company operating in production. A history of contributions to relevant open-source projects is a major plus; evidence of Bitcoin or Rust related side projects are also highly valued. You do not have to be a Bitcoin maxi, but you should know your way around general Bitcoin and blockchain concepts. The most important thing is that you’re smart, willing to learn, and up for the challenge of shipping quickly at a fast-moving early-stage startup. Your pay will be competitive, and you’ll learn a ton. A players only.If this sounds like you and you’re excited about potentially working closely with the Lexe co-founders Max Fang (@maxfangx) and Philip Hayes (@phlip9), don't hesitate to reach out.
