The Software Test Engineer will test new and innovative surgical energy generators and robotic instrument products for the Intuitive da Vinci Surgical System. He or she must excel in a high-energy team environment and be a quick learner. The successful candidate must have exceptional technical depth in relevant areas, and have a track record of being detail oriented in project understanding and testing. Responsibilities include: Represent Software Engineering on cross-functional project teams that design, test and develop next generation electrosurgical generator and robotic instrument products Work closely with the hardware, software and system engineering teams to test engineering changes and verify design requirements and to ensure design outputs are successfully integrated into effective system designs. Support robotic instrument and generator development & testing across multiple development platforms. Develop automated test scripts to increase the efficiency of detecting software anomalies. Develop test methodologies to perform manual or automated software verification. Provide engineering support for resolution of field and manufacturing issues. Qualifications include: Minimum BS required with 5 years of experience in software testing (EE or CS preferred) or, MS with 3 years of experience in software testing (EE or CS preferred). Experience testing embedded software at unit, integration or system level is required. Automated test development experience using Python or C/C++ is highly desired. Prior experience setting up and working with CI/CD tools is highly desired. Debug software and perform reviews of test automation and application code. Contribute to design documentation for test protocols, results and reports and complete tracing for all software requirements. Detail oriented engineer who can assist in analysis of test and field data, identify non-conformance trends, generate concise executive summaries, and recommend design improvements. Working knowledge of peripherals commonly used on embedded systems such as ADCs, DACs, PWM and waveform generation and serial communications (I2C, SPI, RS232) is preferred. Experience working with test equipment (Oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies) is expected. Experience working in Linux operating system environment is required. Familiarity with software configuration management tools and defect tracking tools. Interested in working at a fast paced, high transaction environment providing solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle. Hands-on engineering experience with a proven ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral) across all levels and organizations. A real excitement to learn and get to the bottom of tough technical problems. We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
